I am running for a seat on Wayzata’s school board because I am determined to be an advocate for maintaining excellence during this time of critical change in our district. Changes will be required to accommodate our growing student population as well as our newly approved all-day kindergarteners. Our teachers are implementing changes to meet the needs of diverse learners and to integrate technology effectively. It would be my honor to represent our community during this exciting time of change.
My husband Jim and I have two sons attending West Middle School and Wayzata High School. I have been an active volunteer serving as the Greenwood PTA treasurer, a member of the District Liaison Committee and most recently as Greenwood’s Legislative Action Committee representative. I am also a district employee. As a Speech Language Pathologist at Greenwood, I am part of an outstanding special education team. Our work demands student focused problem solving and accountability as we collaborate with teachers, parents and administrators to best meet the needs of students. This experience will enable me to make a unique and valuable contribution to the school board.
As a Wayzata mom, volunteer and district employee, I am passionate about our schools. When elected to the school board, I am prepared to resign from my position at Greenwood to avoid any conflicts of interest. My goal is to use my personal and professional experiences to represent the educational interests of students, teachers and tax paying residents while working to preserve our academic excellence.
